Dúplex Descalzas 14
The home
Cosy duplex in the historic centre of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, in a restored former palace house that Manuel Godoy gave to his second wife, Pepita Tudó (portrayed by Goya in La maja desnuda). It stands next to the Palacio de Orleans-Borbón and the Palacio Ducal de Medina Sidonia, a 5-minute walk from the centre of Sanlúcar. A very quiet area, free from noise.
The space
Close by are landmark buildings such as the 19th-century neo-Mudéjar Palacio de Orleans-Borbón, built by the Dukes of Montpensier as their summer residence and now the town hall; the 16th-century Renaissance Palacio Ducal de Medina Sidonia, home to the Fundación Medina Sidonia; the parish church of Nuestra Señora de la O, founded in 1360; and a number of bodegas and convents.
On the lower floor are the two bedrooms: a double room with a 160 x 200 bed and an en-suite bathroom, and a spacious second bedroom with a bunk bed (90 x 200 on top and 140 x 200 below), plus a second bathroom.
On the upper floor there is a large living and dining room with a roomy sofa, a guest toilet, a kitchen equipped with everything you need and a lovely terrace where you can enjoy Sanlúcar's wonderful climate.
It is a real pleasure to soak up the peace and history of this building in the Barrio Alto, one of the most charming neighbourhoods in town.
